Pachacuti embroidered bags and belts come from the Highlands of Peru. They are created by indigenous artists using traditional weaving and embroidery skills. These artisans are members of a community based organization which facilitates small business ownership among economically and socially disadvantaged women. Through their participation, they receive training and skills development, greater access to markets and a fair wage for their work. Pachucuti has been recognized nationally in the UK and internationally for their endeavor to redress the inequalities in the global fashion industry through demonstrating that it is possible to run a successful clothing business which benefits the producers, and is environmentally sustainable.
